Cognitive Screening for Personalized Therapy Planning
Use HeadApp's clinically validated cognitive screenings to pinpoint strengths and deficits in minutes and track change over time. The platform translates results into clear, color-coded severity levels and automatically generates a personalized training battery from the program library. This reduces manual exercise selection and supports efficient, measurable therapy planning for in-clinic and home training.

Domains Assessed
- Word Pairs 1: Verbal short-term memory, associative learning
- Pathfinder Test: Visual-spatial attention, processing speed, left–right field asymmetry (neglect/hemianopsia indication)
- Image Builder: Spatial cognition, visuoconstruction, spatial relations processing speed
- Number Sort: Working memory (storage + manipulation), processing speed, attention
- Word Finding: Lexical retrieval / verbal fluency, processing speed
- Tower of London: Executive functions—planning, problem solving
- Word Pairs 2: Verbal delayed recall, retention
- Wellbeing Questions (GDS): Mood / depressive symptoms
- ADL Questions: Functional independence in activities of daily living (everyday skills)
Flexible Administration
Administer the full screening battery or select individual tests based on clinical needs and available time.
Therapist note: Word Pairs 1 and Word Pairs 2 must be administered together with enough other screenings in between to ensure a true delay and interference. If too many in-between tests are deselected, Word Pairs 2 cannot be run because delayed recall would no longer be valid.
Progress Monitoring
Each screening includes three parallel versions, allowing you to repeat assessments over time while reducing practice effects. After an initial administration, the system automatically switches to a parallel version for subsequent retesting.
Therapist note: We recommend allowing about three weeks of consistent training between repeats to capture meaningful change rather than short-term variability.
Screening Results
The screenings assist the therapist in finding the most appropriate therapy modules. They detect which cognitive deficit the patient may have and which degree of severity can be found.

Duration & Color Coding
Each screening has its own specific minimum duration corresponding to the respective test goal. The screenings last between 2 to 6 minutes. The maximum total length of all screenings is about 45 minutes.
Thanks to the color coding, the strengths and weaknesses of the clients can be seen in one view.
Results Interpretation
Color-coded severity levels for immediate clinical clarity.
Automatic Therapy Recommendation
The system automatically recommends therapy modules that are most suitable to address the specific cognitive deficits of the client. If performance is "below average" or worse, suitable therapy modules are suggested. Clinicians can also add or substitute additional programs at any time to align with individual goals, comorbidities, and treatment priorities.

Pathfinder Test
Neglect / Hemianopsia IndicationIf the pathfinder test detects a slowdown on the right or left visual field, this indicates a neglect or a hemianopsia. The basic setting of the patient is changed in accordance with the test results, which affects all therapy programs.
If the result is "strongly impaired", the optokinetic stimulation (OKS) is activated. If the patient cannot tolerate OKS, this must be deactivated manually in the "Patient → Edit" window.
